  1. Its marketing.

If they said "we guess your dog will love it!" or "this new and improved taste might make your dog happy!" no one would buy it.

  2. they dont they just say that so people will buy their food.

  3. lol, excellent question. write to purina and ask them

  4. Many companies do actually have people who taste the food!

  5. lol - Some time ago, I saw the Wellness CEO come on The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch on CNBC. He ate his Wellness moist treats on tv. He offered some to Don, but Don changed the subject :)

  6. They do testing on animals!

    And not the bad kind.

They take a poll.  How many dogs want this food instead of that food when faced with a choice?  How many respond better to which?  How many eat more/faster with one food vs another?

They do it by dog preference after taking a small poll, and yes, some humans are used to taste test food.  I've tasted my own dog's kibble/treats when I was learning why low quality and high quality dog foodage wasn't the same.  Higher tastes better.  Homemade tastes better for that matter.

  7. Not sure, but whenever we switch dog foods (dry) I always taste it first. I know it sounds gross, but its just food! Only one kibble though!
