Most times that i let drivers cut in (by flashing them), for example when lanes are converging and i'm letting someone get in front of me, they thank me by flashing both indicators at once, or by flashing left then right indicators. How do they do this, as i want to do it as well. Is there a special button.

  1. Wow...courteous drivers in the UK.  Some drivers here ( Canada ) will give a thank you wave after you let them in but sadly, those drivers are a minority.

  2. Well my friend if you are in a regular auto you engage the hazard flashers momentarily for both to flash or your turn signal L & R alternantly for one side  then the other. However big rigs ie tractor trailers have a seperate switch that turns all thier lights on or off independantly. Hope this helps.

  3. Yes it's called the hazard lights that orange button on the dashboard, have you really got a licence?

  4. it's your hazard lights the ! with a triangle button.

Moterbikes dont have it so they flash alternate indicaters.

  5. Never seen anybody do that as indicators are indicators to say where you're turning. It doesn't sound safe to me or if somebody puts the hazard lights on while moving it's a warning to people behind that there's danger in front. That's what I was told for my driving test.

  6. Usual aknowledgement not indicators, brake lights. Tap footbrake lightly 2-3 times has same effect as indicators.

Otherwise snap hazard lights on briefly then off.

Bizzies will correct me 4 this I'm sure as I should be focused on driving.

  7. They should not do it as it can cause danger if mis-interpreted by other road users, but they are likely saying thank you. You just click the hazard warning switch, but don't do it as the only legally acceptable reason for using them like that when moving is if you have to slow down suddenly for some reason.

  8. To flash both, use the hazard warning light button. It will have a red triangle.

To flash left then right, indicate left then right.

  9. Hazard warning light or indicator stalk.

Or special flashy button under passenger seat.

  10. One or two clicks on the hazard lights or alternatively left - right-left on the indicator stalks does it.

Wagons turn their lights on-off-on-off to say thank you. At night they do off-on-off. Its old fashioned courtesy.

  11. Not as far a I know. I just switch the indicator stalk up and down to flash the lights alternatively or if I want both to go on I push the hazard button in twice which switches both indicator lights on then off again

  12. a quick press of the hazzard warning lights is what most people do but make sure you dont leave them on.

  13. Hazard warnings or turn signals,  one side then the other.

  14. yes there is but if you don`t know then perhaps you should have some more driving lessons

  15. in experienced drivers will use the hazard light button , please don't as it means that there is a danger ahead.

if you want to say thank you  one click in the opposite direction is good  enough,

none of the thankyou methods are in the highway code

    so use with extreme caution
