  1. Eyes will detect many potential predators or prey.

    Sense of smell through nostrils detect scent in the water. Fish usually have a high degree of smell. Some species use tentacles or whiskers (like a catfish) while others have specialized structures covered with small senors (like a hammerhead shark).

    Many fish have a highly developed structure called a lateral line which runs down the center of each side of their bodies. This acts as their ears. They can "hear" or feel vibrations in the water around them & track movement from smaller creatures they might eat.
