Earth is supposed to match well with other earth signs and water signs.

Air is supposed to match up well with other air signs and fire signs.

There are always exceptions to this (in a way) because people will look at their sun sign and try to make this determination, which they can't, at least not based solely on sun signs.

You may or may not match up...it will all depend on other aspects of your natal charts- moon, venus, mars are all important too.

earth matches water and air - fire. However, there are always exceptions. Make a natal chart of you and your gf or bf and see the more detailed picture, because sometimes sun signs have less importance than it is generally claimed :)
