Doing a project, on how the a certain area will change in 100000 years time. Erosion is likely to cause a change in the earth's crust, but exactly how does it come about during/after an earthquake?

  1. Well, I think this is possibly the answer.  When an earthquake happens at a passive boundary there is friction that slide the two rough surfaces against eachother, and the energy is finally released after this build up releases itself.  The plates must be stopped again by another rough part of the plate as it only moves a few cm maybe.  The plate is eroded both my the passing and the hit when the plates stop again.  Also, as there is a lot of devestation on the actual land different land marks and objects fall or anr damages, causing erosion to themselves and to other things.

  2. earthquake- plates slide past each other, there is friction as movement is not smooth. this stress builds up on rocks and when it is too great, the rocks jerk free into new positions, causing an earthquake. and when an earthquake occurs, objects like trees fall, which are responsible for holding the soil together. Then, with rainfall, the soil is eroded more as there is nothing to hold it together.

is this what youre lookin for?
