One example is the Protestant work ethic.  According to Max Weber, Protestantism is responsible for the development of capitalism.  Protestantism, in contrast to Catholicism, emphasized the virtue and necessity of hard labor.  It considered all jobs to be placements by God, not just the priesthood.  Also, spending on luxuries and donations were discouraged, which left investing.  These were the foundations of the capitalist revolution in Europe and America.


  2. They don't, though economic conditions can affect a given person's attitude toward religion and someone's religion might affect their outlook on economic conditions.
