How do eels mate, breed, have babies?

i know eels are hermaphrodites but how do they breed? how long does this whole process take?? just need lots of info anything thanks

  2. Most eels breed at depths unattainable to the modern diving equipment, which is why no-one has ever seen the Eel mate with other Eels.

    The ‘glass like’ larvae float passively in the gulf stream heading towards Europe, where they will undergo the change to becoming a Eel. They will then travel in thousands up the estuary and rivers before changing into mature Eels. The Eel will travel through many waterways looking for their resting place before succumbing to natures needs several years later.

    That is the best answer I can give.
