  1. I think Aly meant that how do emotions affect your congitive ability (correct me if I'm wrong). The word emotions is a bit vauge: the gamut of emotions can be from happiness to depression. Nevertheless, being very depressed can put you out of the mood of learning. I've heard that as you age, your brain plasticity, or how flexible your brain is, changes negativly. Now, having depressed emotions can cause negative brain plasticity, because you are not in the mood for learning. Therefore, the mental processes might be effected by negative emotions. This is my thought from what I've heard from a range of sources, ANYONE CAN CORRECT ME if they have better info.
