From the LEED Green Building Checklist:

temporary and permanent seeding, mulching, earth dikes, silt fencing, sediment traps and sediment basins

I'm just curious how they work to control erosion.

  1. There are 2 main erosion and/or sediment control methods.

Temporary - These are such things as silt fences, fiber/mulch blankets, wattles, sediment traps, inlet protection, temporary seeding, etc. That stops or contains the flow of silt and sediment that may enter the watershed.

Permanent - These could be natural plantings, permenant seeind/sod, inlet filters that are permenantly installed to control sediment.
