  1. Pretty much the same as I feel about how women are treated by the FLDS, the Catholics, the Jews, the Buddhists, the Rastafarians, and the CofE.

Fine me a religion, and I'll find you a system of managing women to the betterment of the status quo without any real  pay off for girls.

    Cheers :-)

  2. Islam does not teach men to mistreat women. Whoever does those type things do it on their on free will. It has nothing to do with the religion. The same goes for most other religions. I know the bible does not teach abuse towards women but there are many "christian" men who do so.

  3. the same way i feel when i hear idiots fall for stereotypes and demonize certain cultures. go join the army, g.i.joe!

  4. I think you're mistaken to stereotype the Islam religion in this terrible matter. Some of the Islamic nations that call themselves muslims have opressed women for hundreds of years such as Saudi Arabia. They manupulate the wording of Quran to fit their goals of women's opression. There's nothing in our holy book that says women should cover their heads or not have rights the same as men. But since the government is controlled by men, they create laws for their own benefit. So please don't say muslims.

  5. Islam liberates women. The ‘Women’s rights in Islam’ should be judged according to the authentic sources i.e the sahih hadith(sayings of the Prophet) and the Qur'an, and not what individual Muslims do, or what the Muslim society does.,There are different Muslim societies - Some may be close to Islam, some may be far away from Islam.Islam believes in equality of men and women – ‘Equality’ does not mean ‘Identicality’.  In Islam, the role of a man and woman… it is complimentary, it is not conflicting - It is that of a partnership - it is not contradictory, so as to strive for supremacy.  Islam gives every right to a women, from spiritual, to economical to legal, educational and also political rights. It is only the western media who picks a few cases where women have been exploited and make it an issue to make islam look bad, if i want i can do the same for christianity or any other relegion but that would be a lie and wrong on my part .Now i cannot explain each and evrything here, but i will try to send u some material which might give u a better light of Women's rights in islam , i Will conclude the paragraph with the saying of the Prophet ,

Muhammad (S.A.W) said that" The best among you is the one who is best to his wife".

    Edit:

Cynical: Muhammad (S.A.W) did marry her when she was 6 but tht was the culture back then, ppl did marry girls when they were as young as four and he definitely did not rape her ,, if u have been mislead by some anti-muslim ppl and you choose to accept it there isnt much anyone can do, and what do you have to say when according to your relegion St.Joseph was 90 and married 14 yr old mary , what do you have to say to that?

  6. I agree with the last answer about how religion is effectively always a tool for controlling women and girls. Specifically Islam, yes it makes me angry. I know many Muslim girls and they are also angry at the treatment they receive, especially when in comparison to their male counterparts, the freedoms and expectations are so different. I also get angry about how Muslim males treat White, non-religious women. I.e. we are all s***s and whores and we deserve to be spat at, degraded and abused in the street. (I KNOW THAT THIS IS NOT ALL MUSLIM MEN. AT ALL. BUT I LIVE IN AN AREA THAT IS VERY MIXED AND FREQUENTLY ENCOUNTER HARASSMENT FROM MUSLIM MEN, EVEN ON THEIR WAY TO AND FROM MOSQUE) This disrespect needs to stop, as does racism and discrimination against Muslim people.

  7. The same way I feel about how christian women are treated by their religious groups that won't allow them to be priests or ministers or decision makers in their churches-it sucks. I don't like how the majority of religious organizations treat women-it's often sexist and demeaning.

  8. It's one of the reasons why I'm against Islam and do not care if that gets me thumbs-down. The founder of that disgusting reigion (Mohammed) married a 6-year old girl and raped her when she was 9. What can you expect from his followers? Only in Middle Eastern countries do we still see women being stoned to death and honor killings being performed. I'm lucky I was born in  civilized society and not in a Muslim nation. I think more feminist organization should bring attention to this problem and try to organize a coalition that will help bring about some womens' movement in those countries.

  9. It is more 'organized' religion, and they should use their brains and get out of it.  Seems beyond stupid for any woman to be a part of something like that where all kinds of sexist rules for living are made for them by a bunch of men.  That's the way I feel about any organized religion.

...Just answering the question.  It's just my opinion and it's not meant to offend anyone.
