  1. Since CH4 and CO2 are related in the equation 1:1  then 1 mole of CH4 ( 16 grams ) yields 1 mole ( 44 grams ) of CO2

    so 14 grams /44 grams = 1 gram /X    solving for X = 2.75 grams

so 2.75 grams of CO2 are formed for every 1 gram of CH4 combusted

  2. CH4 .....12+4 = 16 g/mol

    CO2..... 12+32 = 44g/mol

    44/16 = 2.75g of CO2 are formed per gram of CH4
