How do fish and other water creatures avoid getting electrocuted when the water is struck by lighting?

  1. If they are close to the strike area, then they don't.  The electricity from a lightning strike dissipates over a short area.  If you are outside of that area you are fine.  Too far inside of it and you are fried.  Most sea creature don't hang out near the surface of the water for long periods of time.
