  1. Swimming through the streams, tributaries and underground springs, to being transplanted and restocked by man.

  2. ducks they get eggs on there feathers then they fly to a different lake

  3. sure they've been planted (a little), but i think they got into different lakes mostly because of all the water that used to cover the earth.

  4. Either from people or from fish eggs stuck on birds.Fish lay thousands of eggs and with a little luck over time enough will survive on a birds feathers and get transported to other lakes.

  5. i like petes answer

    i'll say that

  6. Either they swim down one stream and up another, or someone planted them there. In an area like Saskatchewan, I think swimming is the answer for the most part. Over thousands or years, even fish which don't normally live in streams will spread this way.

In the U.S., fish like largemouth bass (native to the southeast) and rainbow trout (native to the west) have been planted all over the country and developed into sustaining populations in many lakes and streams.

  7. Most states have laws that require all permanent bodies of water that can be considered a lake or pond to be stocked with fish.  This law is to control the mosquito and bug population.  Before these laws were put into place over time fish eggs would attach them selves to water fowl and be transported to other lakes streams and ponds.  Also, over time bodies of water flood into other lakes, ponds and rivers, which carry eggs, fish, and other form of life to the lakes.  In today’s age if you build a pond and wait to see fish appear from birds, it will be unlikely you will even see it in your lifetime; this process is a very slow process that happens over time, and must happen in the perfect timing.  The most likely answer is that the lake has been stocked by someone or some organization at some point in time.
