  1. im not to sure, but i know when u go wine tasting you just like swish it around in your mouth then spit it out so you dont get drunk.

    might be the same.


  2. Tasters don't swallow they just taste and spit it out. I'm sure there's a limit for how many tastes you can do in a period of time however because some alcohol will be absorbed into the bloodstream from your mouth. A 'flavorist' may be someone who develops the flavor before it is added to an alcohol so they wouldn't be tasting the finished product necessarily, or at all.

  3. In the food and beverage industry they have sensitive equipment that analyze their products. This equipment can give accurate data for moisture, alcohol, sugar, and just about any chemical in their foods. That being done they conduct sensory trials.

    These trials can utilize trained sensory analysts or consumers (us reg.) people. They may give blind tastings of several concentrations, in this case of a flavor, and determine what is liked the best. From the results they refine their recipe to appeal to the masses.

    For alcohol trials it is much the same and the alcohol is spit out. This is not true for beer. Since some of the flavor detection of beer occurs in the swallow (throat) the beer is swallowed. So some buzz can be realized.
