Are we eating their larvae on the fresh fruit? How do they get on the fruit in the first place if you've kept everything clean? Thanks!

  1. Fruit flies lay their eggs on it. I only have them if we leave our fruit/vegetables out and they get a little rotten. If you clean your fruit and store it right there shouldn't be any.

In bio two years ago we did a whole section on fruit flies and experimented on them, i think you would see the larvae even though they are small, i think you would notice them.

  2. The early-stage larvae are quite small, less than 1/8 inch, and the eggs are even smaller.  Fairly simple to miss on your ripe banana when you bring it home from the store.
