  1. An excellent example of the potential massive benefits of GM foods is "Golden Rice".

This is a rice which has been genetically engineered to express high levels of beta carotene (a Vitamin A precursor).

It can be grown in areas where people suffer from Vitamin A deficiency, and could therefore alleviate this disorder (which kills about 1-2 million people per year, and leaves another 500,000 blind).

  2. they grow faster and easier, producing significantly higher crop yields.  allowing more food to be produced with less production cost, allowing poor people to be able to afford the food.

  3. Generally, GMO plants are developed to be resistant to herbicides.

This does not solve the food crisis.

The GMO crops are developed by the same ppl who alos make the herbicides.

    It's a money making racket.
