How do get my Tivo to stop with the scrambling picture?

I recently moved my Tivo 1st series from a downstairs tv to an upstairs one. Plugged it in looked alright then when I cut the directv box on the picture is all scrambled. When the box is turned off the tivo works without a scramble but you can't watch tv without the box on. What are my options or cures?

Directtv box has to decode the signals.  You have to use that line so they own your butt and will gladly sell you another unit to solve your problem!
