The last time my computer ran normally I downloaded some game files and then this 'blue screen of death' came up.

How do I get rid of this?

The message says something like one of my hard drives has failed and windows has been shut down to protect my files.

There was some strange stuff happening with my system hard drive. For example it once said it had 3gb left, Then 2 hours later it said it had 20mb left and then after sometime it said it had 1.14gb left.

I cant use safe mode or start windows normally because after 30seconds the blue screen of death pops up.

Out of the advanced start up options I choosed 'repair your computer'

System restore didnt work because I dont have any restore points saved.

Is there a way to activate a disk checker or something to fix the computer using dos prompt?

Please help me!

Because now my computer has difficulties starting up!

Thanks for your help!

  1. BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH EQUALS DEATH OF COMPUTER

  2. Could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software. This  problem can be solved by uninstalling new software, updating device drivers and making minor configuration changes . From http://fixit.in/bluescreenofdeath.html . You can also run a free registry scan using utilities from http://re7.info

  3. Ok that sounds like your using virtual memory. and that uses your hard drive space as memory, minimize your virtual memory to like 600 mb to 1 gig, it may slow your comp up if you dont have much RAM.

but will speed it up if you have space on your hard drive if that makes sense

  4. turn off the computer

  5. A BAD BAD VIRUS!  CLEAR YOU SYSTEM OUT! EVERYTHING WIPE IT OUT BEFORE YOU CANT TURN ON YOUR COMPUTER ANYMORE! HURRRRRY!

  6. let your computer sleep for 24 hours and try again

  7. sounds like a virus.  My suggestion is to get a good virus program and pay for the subscription and then stop downloading things from unknown sources.

  8. Switch to linux

I'd suggest Ubuntu, it's easy and works out of the box. If you're a gamer though you'll just have to deal with BSOD for the most part.
