How do ghosts become ghosts?

I really have been very interested in this area. Ghosts and paranormal just fascinate me! So, how do ghosts become ghosts?

There are many theories and many ghost hunters accept some wile rejecting others. Ghosts become ghosts sometimes by choice, they do not want to move on others die unexpectedly and do not know they are dead and others have the classic unfinished business. some believe that even once you move on you can return from time to time to check on family and friends.

The idea is that they survive death and then return to this world in a form that is visible but non-material.  How this could be accomplished is anyone's guess.  I have yet to see a viable hypothesis attempting to explain how this might happen.

EDIT: I see a lot of hypotheses here offering causes of ghosts.  As some have said, no one still alive has any way of knowing.  Therefore, how on Earth would these people be able to answer this question?  Oh yeah, I forgot, ghost "theories" are just made up.

Fine question, and one which ghost hunters would like to know. This physical dimension is but one realm in which animate beings exist,( I didn't say living), and, according to theologians, all other planes BUT this one are spiritual. That in itself requires more space than I have here to explain. Simply, we are born into a new life HERE on Earth, then progress to Heaven or h**l eternally, depending on our choices. Ghosts seem to be some half-way beings or residual energy that didn't make the jump, somehow, but, again, there's much we don't know. That's why I'm an investigator. Ghosts are real, but terrifically difficult to verify.

ghosts are souls/spirits from people who do not believe that they have died.  Or they are sent back to the earthly plane for some wrong-doing to walk to earth for eternity.  If you encounter one, keep telling it that it has died and they need to move on.

Not all ghosts are spirits or demons, sometimes an"impression" (like a video recording) of an event  keeps playing over and over again. Some scientists believe that this is caused by some kind of electrically charged "plasma", and possibly including the "charged" emotions of the people involved in the event at the time. Something that a person seeing this  would trigger the event( it could be like emotions or just being a live person and walking into the area) so that it "plays" again.

I think that is all purely speculation. I don't know how anyone alive could possibly know. In my own mind, I tell myself that they are ghosts because they simply haven't moved on- for whatever reason. I think that the ghost that lives in my parents house  had too much fun scaring the living daylights out of us to move on. He was the curious sort, you know? But really, I don't know for sure. Be creative and make up your own reason. It's fun!

Here is the deal, NOBODY, no matter WHAT they answer actually knows the truth about any of this, so your guess is as good as anyone elses.  Ghosts and paranormal stuff is interesting  even if it isn't for real, but again, nobody alive on this planet could answer your question.

honestly i think, its when you havent been able to complete somthing that was nessisary in your life,

kinda like when you were younger and in school.
