  1. When I was young (not quite the Pliocene, although it feels like it), Mockingbirds and 'possums were rare north of the Mason-Dixon line. The mammalogist at my school used to tell us how he would amaze farmers who would call in and say something like, "I saw this strange animal...." They would get no further; he would proceed to describe an opossum in great detail.

Presumably, the poleward spread of distributions would be matched by a reduction of the ranges on the equatorial side.

  2. In PhD scientist signers alone, the project already includes 15-times more scientists than are seriously involved in the United Nations IPPC process. The very large number of petition signers demonstrates that, if there is a consensus among American scientists, it is in opposition to the human-caused global warming hypothesis rather than in favor of it.

  3. Which flora? and which fauna?

  4. The current fluctuating global temperatures are not suitable for each and every plant and animal. There is a lot to discuss but as you are not specific I'll talk about polar bears the inhabitants of Arctic. Due to temperature rise the ice of Arctic is melting out at a steady and quick rate and thus polar bears are losing their habitat. Moreover they are not adapted to temperatures which are currently very high for them. So they are an endangered specie now. Talking about corals. They need temp. between 20 & 25 degree celcius which is not maintained and thus they are getting destroyed with the polyps who create this corals and with corals millions of species of fish which reside in the corals. Eg. Great Barrier Reef. For more info. feel free to contact me: kap_asl_ali@yahoo.co.in
