How do grocery prices in Santiago Chile compare with those of the US?

  1. Certain items are cheaper in Chile but most are on par with our markets - i would suggest buying items like cheese and bread and other speciality items at local smaller mom and pop style stores - here you will find much better deals than the big super markets!


  2. They are not too different. I've been there twice for a month each. The difference in price is very little if any.

  3. I would say the fruits and veggies are sooooooooo cheap, like here in Florida you pay 8 bucks for a watermelon in Chile is about 1 buck. Apples are about 3 bucks a pound here in Chile is about 1.50 a Kilo.  I have to disagree with the person answering before me , because food is way less expensive in Chile. And is also really good.
