How do hardware stores report theft

Question

Do places like Ace carry security cameras (a lot to make theft hard to do). If they get a visual ID on a person and his vehicle, can they go back to cameras and work to arrest this person? How would this person get caught if they made off but still was on camera?

Yes to all of those things, except for last question that I don't really understand.  What do you mean safe?  If there is a warrant out for your arrest, they will eventually find you wherever you may be.
