How do hiccups form? What are hiccups caused by?

I have no clue why I am asking this but it seems interesting? Where do hiccups come from or what are they caused by? Thank you (:

Medically speaking, hiccups are due to an irritation of the diaphragm. The diaphragm is your main breathing muscle, located directly below your cardiopulmonary system (heart/lungs).
