  1. maybe they had a home and got evicted and couldnt find another home in their budget then they lost their job b cuz they never had a place to go and shower and do their laundry and the manager was like you smell like sh*t ur fired... idk just a possability

  2. Many of them are mentally inept.  A large protion of homless have addictions to drugs and alcohol. Then there are others who just do not have any drive or want from life.

  3. Homeless people would automatically give birth to wanderers. I have seen many like that

  4. A natural disaster can put you down and out. Your strength has to be strong. You have to  be proud enough to ask for help. Loss of job can tear you apart when you depend on your paycheck. You worked for a company looking forward to retirement and there is nothing there. You have to get the energy to start all over again sometimes even when your old. Drugs probably pays a part in this kind of problem also.I guess you could say mental illness if depression and defeat are part of it. It is hard to figure out what really could make you snap.

  5. From the statistics I've read, about 1/3 are junkies and alcoholics, about 1/3 are former residents of mental institutions who've been turned out due to lack of funding or whatever, and the final 1/3 are the actual "hard luck" cases...

  6. Some people become homeless because of drug addiction or mental illnesses. Some people just get laid of from work and never find a new job.

  7. I lived for ten years struggling from month to month.  The only thing that kept me from becoming homeless is sacrifice, vigilance and a helluva lot of hard work.

  8. Natural Disasters, the Economy, Family Disputes, Lack of Education,Mental Health Issues - there's many reasons, these were just a few.

Also I reckon its a number of factors together, it never is just ONE reason.

  9. Homeless people are homeless for a number of reasons: Pres. Reagan, lack of education, drugs & alcohol, high rents, low paying jobs,

losing a job...I'm sure there are more reasons but I cant think of any right now...

  10. There are people who prefer to give up the responsibilities of modern life and instead choose to be society parasites. In the US there is absolutely no reason why anyone has to be homeless, unless they want to live that way. If you go to a third world country, the only homeless you will see are the severely mentally ill, the poorest of people will at least make a shelter somewhere and try to find work, not just panhandle.

  11. For every homeless individual, there is a story behind their circumstance.  However, what I do know is that many, many years ago- when Reagan was governor of California and attempting to resolve the budget crisis, he closed down most "half way houses".  These were shelters primarily for people with mental illnesses.  There was no place for them to go but the streets.  I was living in a city where there had been a large "shelter".  When the shelter was forced to close its doors, we saw clear and convincing evidence of those who had once lived there.  We called them our "local crazies" but in reality, it was immensely tragic.  These people were clearly ill.  One woman wore her outer clothing underneath her underwear so she walked around with a bra and panties on the outside.  Another one wore leopard ears and went around accusing everyone of killing Lana Turner.  We also has "Air Traffic Control".  This man stood on one street corner all day long just pointing upwards with both arms as if directing airplanes. Currently, a large percentage of homeless people are mentally ill.  Addiction is a mental illness. However, I have actually spoken to a few who have made the conscious choice to live on the streets.
