  1. The parents and/or homeschool association issue a diploma.  It is important to realize that a diploma is merely a decorative certificate.  It symbolizes a completion of a program, which a homeschool has.

Much more important, for both homeschoolers and traditionally schooled students, are the SAT/ACT scores, transcripts, etc.

SOME homeschoolers choose to go the GED route, but many do not because the GED carries the stigma of a dropout, and homeschoolers work hard and do not want that stigma.

  2. Homeschoolers actually have a lot of options for earning thier high school diploma.  One is that they can take an accredited homeschool course, for example, American school, Penn Foster,or Pear Blossom, to name just a few. Another option is that the parents issue thier own diploma after the student has passed all of the required courses in thier homeschool program.

  3. I believe they have to pass the GED tests or General Educational Development tests. Passing these tests certify that the individual has an education equivalent to that of  high school education (USA or Canada). These tests can be taken by anyone, and (in theory) someone who's passed their GED can do anything a high school grad can do (such as attend college or get a job requiring a high school education)

  4. Actually, you don't get a GED.  Your parents issue your diploma.

    Hope this helps!
