Well, that would be considered text messaging.. messaging from one device to another...

but in order to IM (instant message) as we know the term, you can do this:

First go to

to sign up your phone

You will then receive a text message on your phone - it will have you-

Open your Mobile browser to verify your phone

Or you can go directly to Yahoo Front Page:

http://m.yahoo.com

You can Select and login to yahoo messenger.
