  1. you have to go down to the police station in person- an officer has to run a check on you. If you have a non citiable warrant then you will be arrested. If you do have a citable warrant then you will receive a citation with a court date and be free to go. IF you do not show up on a scheduled court date then a warrant will be issued for your arrest for failure to appear.

You cannot obtain warrant information over the phone or on the internet.

  2. do yourself a HUGE favor and go down to the police station and find out in person. and if you do have warrants, do NOT run fromthem. The more you avoid facing the music, the worse it will be. just get it over with and be honest and friendly and seek appropriate legal repressentation.

  3. Contact the Sheriff's Department. They'll more than likely require you to show up in person and ask.

  4. You don't.

A warrant is an order by a judge to place the person named under arrest. The police do not give out the info over the phone and it is not available, for free, on the net. You walk into a station with ID and tell them you think you have a warrant. They run you and if you do you are arrested.

Now a warrant is usually public record and if you subscribe to a fee based service that scours the records for information, like moist PIs are, then they may have the warrant info. Most criminal attorneys can get the info also. In most cases their fees are more than the bond.

In Illinois all warrants that are serviceable end with an arrest or a quash by the issuing court. Most warrants, except felony and VOP, have a bond decided on by the issuing judge. In Illinois there are no bail bondsmen. The state thru the local county handles it. So if there is a bond after you are arrested and processed, minimum of 4 hours and usually not much more than that, you can post 10% of your bond in cash. If the bond stated is $1000 then you have to come up with $100 cash. if you show up in court on the correct day you get your $100 back minus $10. or 10% fee to the county.

Felony and VOP warrants see the judge the next day for a decision.

If it is a VOP your PO can tell you if they got a warrant on you. Your PO can also arrest you in this case.

  5. By calling them or going to the police station.
