  1. http://www.americanairman.com/

I work there as an Instructor, Its on Long Island. Where ever your from you might compare prices and what not. We train, classes, hands-on, and actual flying. Check it out to see and compare. Good Luck

  2. Go to the proper aviator school !i

  3. Inquire about instruction at the Modesto, Oakdale, Merced, and Tracy airports.  They're locations are shown on the sectional chat at www.skyvector.com.

Count on it costing $5000+.  If you get it done cheaper you have done some things right.

Study plenty ahead of time.  Pass the written examination.  Fly two lessons a day on 5 days of the week.  Listen to your instructor(s).  Make yourself a cross-country planning checklist.

  4. You'll need to go to flight school and its not cheap!!

  5. Check to see if your city/town has an airport. Looks like Modesto Airport has a flight school. Go there and ask for an introductory flight.

They'll put you in the controls of the airplane while flying around some training area or wherever they go fly.

There are 3 main varieties of licenses:

--Private (meaning you can fly most small airplanes by yourself to most airports and carry passengers)

--Instrument (includes above, but you can fly inside of clouds/fog, if you don't have this, it's illegal to fly where you can't see the horizon/ground)

--Commercial (includes above, but you can fly for hire)

There arn't any special "skills" required. Anyone can learn to fly.

The most important skill really is good judgment, which most people should have already.

See source below for an example of prices.

  6. I know that if you start off as cabin crew or an air traffic controller you can then progress to be a pilot, through college training.

  7. Look up Flight instruction in the phone book or on the internet. the school will tell you all you need to know.

  9. That's a lot to ask on a forum like this.  You are asking a very broad question, and telling you everything would take a long time.  Also, this question is asked several times a day here, and there are many detailed answers already posted.  So, first do some research and look up some of the other questions on this topic.  Then, go to a local flight school and talk to an instructor or the sales person.  Then, come back here if you have any other specific questions.  Also, you need to tell us if you just want to fly for pleasure, perhaps purchasing your own small aircraft, or are you wanting to fly for a career?  Those are two very different goals, but they start out essentially the same way.  Your first goal would be a private certificate.  After you start training, you will learn more and be able to ask more specific questions.  I would also look at aviation websites like flightinfo.com or pprune.com and read up on training.  Also, it helps if you tell us what country you live in and if you have financing available.  Please give us more information so we can help you better.  Good luck.
