How do i add a SPDIF output to a portable radio ?

I would like to add a SPDIF to a boom box style radio .

What parts are needed and are there any directions ?

  1. You can't and there is no point doing it either. A portable radio can only receive stereo signals. S/pdif is used mostly for multichannel audio.


  2. SPDIF is digital, so unless the Boombox supports it -- which I doubt -- you would need an analog to digital converter. The easiest option would be an analog to SPDIF converter box (See link) ... but note this would only give you stereo digital output, not surround.
