How do i add special effects on a video?

ok so i want to make a video. and i want to add effects on it. like explosion sounds,fire, etc..... do i need a program

Like the person above stated, it is quite easy to get sound effects into a video project with any low-end editing software but for special effects/compositing, try to find yourself access to a copy of Adobe After Effects (not exactly easy to use OR cheap like someone else mentioned but if you get over the learning curve it's possible to create really professional-looking stuff.)

  4. All video editors allow you to import audio - whether effects o music or just "sound design". Most low end have some sort of "special effects" capabilities - but they won't look like what you see at the theater or on TV... Their video editors cost LOTS of money - plus many times, they have the budget to actually blow stuff up or burn things...

    Windows MovieMaker is already in Windows; iMovie is already in Apple Macintosh computers...
