How do i apply for a US Visa

I have a friend of mine who stays in america and is inviting me to visit her sometime this year. I have a fresh passport and i live in India. She is willing to send me a hospitality letter which will allow me to visit her. What i want to know is what are the details the letter should have and how should i go about it. Someone also told me that it is difficult to get a tourist visa for america on a fresh passport. could someone please guide me in the right way. I am 27 year's old. I am a resident of india. I have my ow business here. I have never travelled out of india before.

You can apply for US visa as a dependent to your friend. If your friend has H1, then you can apply for H4 Visa. If your friend having L1 visa, then you can ap[ply for L2 visa.

It's going to be tough.

Your friend is just a friend and therefore bears no relation to you. You will have a hard time trying to convince the Visa Officer that you are travelling only for a Visit and will return to your country.(Too many illegal aliens in the US)

Over and above, you have never travelled to another Western Country.

My Suggestion - Book yourself on a guided tour to US (again the onus of getting a Visa is yours) and that will be your only chance to meet your .....friend :)
