  1. Hi Dominique,

    Glad to hear you're interested in the College. The first thing you need to do is find out where your nearest armed forces careers office is (AFCO.) A list of these with details is held here;

    http://www.raf.mod.uk/careers/nextsteps/...

    Once you get there you need to express your intentions of applying to Welbeck, and they will be able to help arrange a filter interview for you, which happens at the careers office. They also have DVDs and booklets which will tell you everything you need to know about the interviews and selections, this is why the AFCO is your first stop to apply.

    Put briefly, if and when the filter interview goes well, which it should do, you will be put through to an Officers and Aircrew Selection Course (OASC) at RAF Cranwell. This is a 4-day course of assessment and testing to see if you are suitable to be a Welbexian and to join the forces. You can find out much more about this at the AFCO. After that, if you havn't already been allocated a visit to the College Campus, you will have one, and get showed round by me or other students, so you can see the facilities that £300m bought, and get an idea for college life.

    If your selection goes well, you will be offered a 'provisional' College place, which depends on your GCSE results. As I'm sure you know, you'll need an A / A* in Maths, and a certain level of points on an academic points system which is explained here;

    http://www.welbeck.mod.uk/what_next.html

    Presuming that goes well, you will then be a student at Welbeck DSFC! You will get your A-levels, your £5500pa bursary at University, a supporting University Air Squadron, IOT and specialist training at RAF Cranwell, and all the training you could need to be a successful, skilled Officer in the armed forces.

    I hope this has answered any questions you had, but if not, message me and we can discuss more over email. If that's everything, then best of luck in applying;

    Give it your all and it'll pay off.

    J Wright
