How do i ask for a promise ring?

I know that the parents usually give the daughter a promise ring as a gift, and kind of a question; but i already know i am going to remain a virgin until marriage, and wearing a promise ring would really empower me and feel like i am kind of protected. i want to ask my mom stepdad if i could have one [i'm not expecting anything more than .75 carat diamond, and white gold would be my preferred metal] to show/prove to them my decision. how do i go about asking them to buy me one?

I would tell them how important to you this is, and that getting the ring would help show yourself and others how you feel and that you are really serious about your decision to wait to marriage. tell them what you want and that you are not wanting something that is too extremely expensive. you may also consider asking for it for a birthday or christmas or something.

just talk to them about it, i am sure they would not mind since it is for a great reason.

a 3-quarter carat diamond????  You're out of your freakin' mind!  What you could reasonably expect is a pretty little ring with a diamond chip.  And wearing a ring doesn't prove anything.

This is absurd.

If you're serious about abstaining until you're married, for whatever reason, make sure that reason comes from within you.  It can't be because it's what is "expected" of you by your parents, or religious leaders, or, for that matter, in exchange for a ring.

Virginity is not a thing to be bought or sold or traded for.  The whole idea is that you should be free to decide for yourself, because it's your body and your business.  Anything else is creepy and wrong.

It's fine to choose not to have s*x, and fine to have s*x, just make sure you make the decision, whatever it is, for the right reason:  because it's right for you.

It's a purity ring, not a promess ring... ;)

Just tell them you value what they are teaching you, and would like boys to know that you intend of staying pure until your marriage, and a purity ring would really help you be strong, and have as a constant reminder of that life choice!

a .75 carat ring could cost like 5 grand for a good one. Maybe set your sights a little lower.
