I was hired as a part time employ and for the week of August 24 till the 30th, ill be working over 60 hours, im not to happy with this but if i got overtime i might be a little bit happy about giving up my last week of summer holidays. But how do i ask for it. Btw im 17, and im makin minimum wage of 8.20.

  1. Sounds like you have your boss over a barrel here.  If I were you I'd mention to him that you want to clarify that you'll be getting time-and-a-half for working more than 8 hours in a day and double time for working more than 12.

If he doesn't think that's fair, ask him to justify his position.  Your boss probably makes 4-6 times what you do, so it's not that much money as far as a business expense goes.

    Good Luck

  2. You could ask her if there is a special form that you need to fill out to get paid for the over time.

  3. WRITE DOWN UR HRS TO SOO HE CAN PAY YA OVER TIME..

  4. Actually, your boss is required to pay you overtime if you work more than 40 hours is a given week. It is illegal for him/her not to. So don't think overtime is a "gift", its just as required as the minimum wage.

  5. In the US I think it is required to pay time and a half for over 40 hours in a week, unless you meet the salaried definition, which does not appear to be the case.

You shouldn't have to ask for that overtime, but considering what's happening, I might be tempted to ask for a raise too.
