Question:

How do i be the best i can be? (field hockey)?

i am off to the edge field hockey camp in 1 week. im not the greatest fullback but im not the worst. there are days when im really good and consistant and others when i suck. i really want to be good for camp and i have school practice twice this week but it doesnt seem to really help a whole lot. should i be practicing at home? and if yes what should i practice? what are the skills needed to be the best full back?? thanks

  1. Go running once a day for about 1hr just to make sure that you will be able to run fast enough and at home practice lifting the ball over some items (shoes) so that you can get the ball further up the field. Also always remember to keep your stick on the ground so that the ball cant get past as easy, dont be afraid to run out to the ball and tackle, even if you fail to get the ball most likely another teamnate will be there to get the ball and if not the person cant hit as hard so it will be less chance of a goal:D


  2. well first off, i have heard a lot of good things about the edge camp, and i also play defense, and the one thing that has really helped me is my hits, specifically my drives. i would make sure i was really aggressive and not afraid of the ball. while at practice, i would also focus on communication with the rest of my team, because being on defense, you have the whole field in front of you and you can easily see your other teammates. I also think that practicing at home might help a little bit, but you will have plenty of practice at the camp. It may help though if you have like a dog or something, you could play around with him and use him as a dummy "d" to work on dribbling because you will probably be switching around positions at the camp,
