How do i become a freelance tour guide?

I'm an engineering student. I've heard of a tour guide course which last for 5 months. Only on weekends, and after 5 months, i'll be able to be a tour guide, is tat true???

I think there are different ways to become tour guides. I'm sure there are courses you can take--independently or through a company (once hired).
