  1. Any Military vet with a chest full of medals form combat missions, can get a job doing security.

Each branch of the military has jobs which include wet work.

Enlist and do any of them for 10 years [survive].

    The jobs will seek you.

I have had job offers. you will too.

  2. There is a big difference between mercenary and private contractor now, but it doesn't really matter. First you have to gain the experience and the background. Join the military, make it though a few years in a specialized unit and by the time you do that, you will know everything there is to know about how to do missions on your own.

  3. You have to have the training and experience - like already a Navy SEAL. If you don't already have 6-10 years in special forces, then you are not qualified to be a merc.

You do what jobs you accept and you get paid what you are offered.

It is not an hourly position. It is more along the lines of being offered an amount to do one task. Once that one is done, you hope another comes along before your rent is due.

Mercenaries aren't really used much today. The most common place for mercs today is movies and video games.

  4. You should probably have a few years of actual Military experience.  I would recommend the Army or Marine Corps.

After that, the only real way is to try to get a spot with a firm like Blackwater

  5. The US Gov does not hire mercenaries they hire security specialist

    Vet-USAF
