How do i become a performer on broadway?

hi. i'm a singer and i want to be on broadway. but i just recently moved to new york and in order to go to the audition you have to be an equity member. so i can't even be auditioned!!! does anybody knows other way that i can become a broadway performer, or maybe somebody knows other ways to be noticed as a singer in nyc??

To get to Broadway, you have to start at a lower level in the entertainment industry and work your way up.  Start by picking up a copy of the weekly newspaper "Back Stage."  Read all the audition notices, with special attention to those that are for non-union performers.
