  2. Firstly you'd have to join a Police Department/Agency etc that has a Water/marine section and a dive section.

    As with all specialist positions in law enforcement you'll have to serve a minium time in general duties/patrol etc before before being able to apply for a specialist section such as the dive unit. Once you apply you'll have to under rigourous testing and courses in competition with other officers wishing to join.

    Police divrs have very high standards as they use a variety of dive sets and equipment and more often then not undertake diving operations searching for bodies/evidence etc in foul conditions and locations that civilian divers wouldn't go near.

    You'll need to be very fit, a qualified diver and very confident in the water.
