  1. Go to cop school.

  2. My brother is a correctional officer and just applied for a police officer job in Corpus Christi Texas. In CC, They dont require any schooling after high school, although having your basic peace officer will help (you get this by attending police academy). For the police dept, if accepted, provided you the training to become an officer. Check up on local police districts in your area, or walk into one and ask them the steps im sure they would be happy to let you know how to become one. I want to become one too, and have no college, so i just applied to a job to be a security guard that will train me so i can get expireience. they also provide tuition, so im going to also get my basic peace officer cert, and eventually apply to work as a police officer. Or you can always join the military and become a police officer in there. When you get out, you get an automatic 30 points added to your tests for past exp. its alot of help. choose whats best

talk to police stations, and military recruiters. good luck!

  3. If you are sure you want to be a cop plan now!  College is not necessary but it will get you more money than a non college grad.  Keep you driving record clean(speeding tickets show disrespect for the law).  Don't experiment with any drugs or commit any petty or violent crimes.  The main thing is honesty.  If are caught lying you will never be allow to work with ANY police department.  There are a few good things about making the decision young.

    1.  You will be will be well established in your career when you hit 30.

    2.  If you decide to go corrections before the street you can be there with 3 years experience of dealing criminals.

Most street cops require you to be 21.  In San Diego County right now you can be a San Diego Deputy Sheriff (Corrections Only) at the age of 18.  I don't know what county you live in but find out what their requirements are.

When applying normally the process is this:

    Written Test

    Physical Fitness exam

    Background Check with Biography

    Voice Stress Analysis Exam

    Medical Exam

    Psychological Written

    Psychological Interview (with Dr)

  4. So the fastest way to a career as a police officer is to take up a heavy habit of drugs and petty crime, oh and the characteristic of corruptability is a plus.

Now you did say you wanted to do your career in the back of a police car right?

Or was it the chief of police??? :-)

Little word of advice, at 16 DO NOT do any drugs. Not even pot. Not worth it. They ask you these questions years later and it WILL haunt you. Lie detector test, voice analysis test, interrogations one after another. Try to keep family in the good books and keep in contact with postive people that can vouch for you, more than 5- 10 years is a plus. Be careful of who you associate with. They go to your previous residence to find out who you where hanging out with and who you might be affiliated with. trust me you can't keep that off your recond because they ask some serious questions when there are gaps in your history. Stay out of trouble no matter if your friends are doing otherwise. I would go into the sheriffs department honestly better benefits more respect, and just a better job. I kick myself now if I would have known what I know now. Its a good career.

  5. You should go to college after you graduate high school. However, many police departments only require a high school diploma or GED. If you have an associate or bachelor degree, it will open up many more doors for you. Having a degree will also benefit you when it comes to trying to get a promotion. Some departments pay their officers more if they have a degree. Visit the websites of the departments you are interested in to find out what their educational requirements are. When it comes to getting a police officer job, your background is very important. Check out http://www.peaceofficerjobs.com for excellent information and advice about becoming a police officer.

  6. This depends upon which department you are applying with.  Some departments require college education or relevent military experience.  Other departments do not.  It often depends upon the size of the department as to how extensive their requirements are.  Generally there is an entrance exam, a background check, aptitude and cognitive testing, physical agility tests often a pre-employment psychological evaluation and/or polygraph examination.  For a more specific answer, it would be best for you to contact your local departments and speak with someone there.  Good luck!

  7. Get your diploma

    Work out (Build Stamina)

Apply to your local county sheriff as atrainee

    take the test

    go into the POST academy

    get your POST

and apply to any agency you want

Sac county only requires a Dimploma, 18 years old, and a POST certificate
