  1. I am in Canada, so I can only answer in a very general way.  Here we have specific courses people take to become teacher's assistants.  We have community colleges that offer these.  Look in your phone book.  One of the most useful things you could do is phone a local school and talk to a head teacher or principal or a guidance councellor.  I suspect that you would have to get your leaving certificate to qualify for this job.  You may be able to get some sort of similar job in a pre-school or day care, that may not require as much training.  Another good thing to do would be to talk to someone who is doing the job that you would like to do, and find out how they achieved that goal -- courses, work experience, etc.

    Good luck.
