  1. You can have things like soy milk and nuts.  A lot of soy milk is healthier for you because more nutrients are added than cow's milk.  Plus, you don't have to worry about cholesterol.

  2. Don't try to get attention by being a vegan. Listen to your parents.

  3. i'm the same age and i've been a vegetarian from since i was a baby.i'm not a vegan but u can get soybean products,likr soymilk,soy cheese,and more

  4. I was vegetarian at 9 so 13 shouldn't be hard. Go ask your doctor how to do it healthily.

  5. You shouldn't become a Vegan

You may think it will be good for you and animals

    But trust me

    I am 14 and I was a Vegetarian for a year

You need to spend extra money on Protein powder and Vitamins

And  I got very sick while I was Vegetarian

My doctor told me to stop until I am done growing

So around 18 or 19 I will be able to return to Vegetarian

You should also wait until you are 19 or 20

If you are in your teens becoming Vegetarian let alone Vegan is unheathy and you will not grow properly

Becoming Vegan won't allow you to have Milk Eggs Cheese

and you need to have all those

But you can become a "Swing-Vegetarian"

    Not Vegan

"Swing-Vegetarian" you just eat meat twice a week to stay healthy and grow

But other than that don't become a Vegan when you're 13

  6. You do need calcium/ protein but you can get it other ways.

Much healthier ways I might add.  For one tell your parents that Calcium is a mineral / minerals come from the earth. cows only have calcium bcause they eat grass -or they are supposed to.  The cows they currently offer don't get to eat grass. so their food they eat is fortified.   very sad conditions for animals . check out (meet your meat )on youtube -- you'll see what I mean

If you have an ipod listen to podcast ( vegetarian food for thought ) by Colleen from compassionatecooks.com

she has an podcast for teenage/college students that are vegan . she will help you deal with your parents. Good luck

  7. You can drink fortified soymilk in place of cow's or try a fortified almond milk or rice milk.

As for proteins, there are many like tofu, nuts, quinoa, pinto beans, black beans, kidney beans, etc.

I recommend you check out this site http://www.animalplace.org/govegan.html

They offer a veg kit for teens. I think it would be helpful for you. If your parents are a little leary, it will help if you are knowledgeable, so do your research.

You can be a perfectly healthy teen and vegan. :)

    Good luck to you!

  8. if your parents are really worried, you could try vitamin supplements. tell them that it really is healthy. i am a vegitarian and i am 13 years old. i have been for 9 months now. the only reason i cant be a vegan is because i love cheese so much. :D for some vegan recipes, visit peta2.com . hope this helps!

  9. Okay, well there are SOO many related answers, you should have just typed in search: "Becoming vegan" hundreds of answers pop up, but I'll help you out with a start for now!

Instead of vegan, I would recommend becoming vegetarian, that way all you have to do is avoid meats, and you take a vitamin supplement called B-12 for the iron your losing in not eating meat.

If you decide to become vegan, you can take soy milk and man made meat supplements instead. Just make sure you get your parents to buy you the proper supplements to take.

  10. vegetables, fruits, nuts, beans, soy products, mock meats, grains, you would be suprised at how much you can eat while being vegan,

dont listen to the people who say how unhealthy it is to be vegan or veghead, half havnt been either one and the other half didnt eat right, there was some study that said its okay to be vegan or veghead at any stage in your life as long as you eat properly,

you should get a daily vitamin, you will need to be much more consciencious of what you eat to make sure you get the nutrients you need, there is a wide range of vegan friendly food you jsut got to make sure you read product labels really good,

  11. U require INFORMATION to convince the adults. U're exceptional kind of kid in thousands that God creates. Not all of them have kinda conscience and intuition.

  12. yeah i was a vegetarian since i was 8 (I'm 14) then turned vegan last year so i was 13 too. i take a vegan vitamin every day just to make sure i OK

so if you aren't already a vegetarian try that for a while then consider becoming a vegan that way it will probably be easier for you and your parents

  13. You can eat vegetarian soy meats(most of them are also vegan but i reccomend that you check before you eat.)

You can have soy or rice milk too,Silk soy milk has 7 grams of protien in it per serving.I would also reccomend you educating your parents about veganism. If they dont comfromise you may have to cook for your self.

  14. I commend you for wanting to go vegan at such a young age.. that shows character and courage.  Now for starters you should become a member of a co-op or start to frequent the health food store near you and start to shop for yourself because that way you can learn what vegan foods you want since your parents obviously don't know.  Eat lots of *whole* vegetables and fruits and whole grains.  Eat lots of extra virgin olive oil on salads and in pestos, etc.  You will be the coolest kid in school if you can stick with this, show them that you know what you stand for, girl!

  15. i became a vegetarian at 12 and now I'm 13

if i were u and Ur not a vegetarian i would do that first to show them a life style similar to that is healthy

    and as far as milk

    to words

    SOY MILK

  16. I think the best route is to start off slowly. Become a vegetarian first. After eliminating meat from your diet, you will be able to eliminate items one at a time much easier than trying to do them all at once. After meat, try milk, then sour cream, cheese, eggs, whey.

There is a lot of good info on the peta.org website and they will send you information on how to talk to your parents and give you nutritional guidelines. Look into foods such as Kale, Quinoa, Blueberries, Almonds, Avocado, Tempeh, and make sure you take a B12 vitamin and a multivitamin.

There is an AWESOME podcast called "Vegetarian Food For Thought" on iTunes if you have an iPod. Her name is Colleen and she has sooooo much good information for vegans and even did a couple podcasts on teens becoming vegan.

    Congratulations on your choice :)
