just be your self and make friends gradually, if you try to rush it, you will be viewed as pushy

Popular is over rated,Just be yourself, but by all means don't do stupid things to draw attention to yourself. Just don't be shy and say Hi to people, start gradual conversations. Dont go the drug route or the sleeping with eveyone route either. If people like you then they like you, if they don't then they don't. Don't try so hard and hopefully it will just come natural. Your real friends and people who like you will be there for you no matter what, remember that

All the others will just be there for the when things are going good for you. The ones that stick around when things are tuff, those are your real friends and people you need to keep close. Life can be tuff, but just hang in there. Take the good with the bad. By the way, those people that are "popular" they will 1 out of 10 might make something for themselfs. The other 9 will either have a kid right out of high school or be in a dead in job, another words won't make anything for themselfs. Focus on your education, cause life outside of school is alot tuffer. Hang in there and like I said just be yourself. It also helps to have some self confidence, keep ur head up as you walk and look poeple in the eyes. Hope this helps.
