if you have verizon, you can use call intercept.  800-527-7070 but you have to sign up for the service first.  you can add or block people and if a person is not on your VIP list you will hear a recording before accepting or rejecting them.  it's great!

If you have a blocking service through your home phone carrier they should have instructions on how to do it.  Be aware, these services usually do not block cellphones nor certain businesses from calling you.

Regarding a previous answer....'Anonymous Call Rejection' only blocks calls that are anonymous. (Sending no ID.)  For that to work, you have to be subscribed to a Caller ID service.. A Call Manager will allow you to reject any phone numbers you want, including all 800 numbers too.!! http://www.privacycorps.com

First, you have to make sure that you have subscribed to the "blocking service" -- its not automatically available on all phone....

try using *77!! which is anonymous call rejection......but if you don't have this feature from your phone provider...then all you can do is get a caller ID manager!!
