  1. Try this------------

    http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/ContentSer...

    Enjoy your trip

  2. Actually the line(CSX) east of N.O. has reopened and is in better shape than before Katrina, but Amtrak just chose not to run the train east of N.O anymore. The hurricane gave them a good excuse to get rid of that section of the Sunset Limited's run.

  3. yes the amtrak gulf route has been closed since hurricane katrina

  4. Peter is correct.  Amtrak is the only provider of intercity train travel in the United States.  They do serve Little Rock, but the train goes either to Dallas or to Chicago.  By some complicated and lengthy train changes you could go to New Orleans, and then up to Birmingham, but nothing east of New Orleans along the Gulf--that line was never reopened after Katrina.

  5. Hmmm, LRK to Pensacola? You are out of luck. Your country doesn't support the passenger railways and so that route is closed. Doesn't look like they are in a hurry to repair it after Hurricane Katrina. Try Greyhound or go by car. The USA's transport policy has sold out to the car.
