I have a wireless router and it is in the corner of my house. My room is about 10 feet up and 40 feet away from the router. I want to put my ps3 in my room because i have a nice tv but if i do the connection is about 20%. Can someone tell me how to put my ps3 in my room and be able to have at least 70% connection? i have already put a parabolic thing on my antennae and it works a little but not as much as id hope. i will ask my dad if i can move the router but we have verizon internet and if i move the router that means i need a longer ethernet cable to get it in a centralized location. Please help

  1. I was going to suggest the parabolic antenna, but then I read that you've already tried that. You might double-check how your antenna is aimed - you might be able to squeeze a little more signal out of it by fine tuning the directionality.

The only other things that come to mind involve moving the router. It sounds like you're on the floor above the router. Try elevating it more (closing the gap between it and the ceiling) and make sure it isn't right up against any solid surfaces like walls and such. That tends to mute the signal. You might need to experiment to get the best signal, but I've found that keeping mine about 5 to 6 feet off the floor (you might want to go higher since you're in a multi-storey house) and at least a foot away from the walls. If your router has one or more external antennas, you could also try putting a parabolic wave catcher over it/them, but this could seriously impair or kill the signal being used by any other wireless computers since it will aim all the signal at you.
