How do i boost my wireless signal?

i have all my gear (ps3,360,wii) set up in a shed. theres one problem with that, the wireless signal does not seem to be getting through i can only get signal when the roller door is up which is a pain in the *** and even then the signal isnt great. is there anyway to boost my wireless signal and get it working like it used to??

  1. metal doors will sure stop your signal

    make sure the router is high and not cluttered

    change the channel from the default channel 6 - 1 and 11 are first picks

    change the ssid from defaults

    even if to add a digit

    if the computer is a desktop with a usb network adapter see if you can not add a usb extender to get the adapter high and away from the metal case of the computer , ditto if a pci card - away from wall or metal desk

    I assume that it is a laptop

    change the wireless signal to g only from mixed or try b

    move the router over a foot or so

    you can build a simple mesh antenna behind the router

    antennas do not boost strength - they focus it

    there are also some cone type mesh antennas that they place behind the router to focus the signal
