I have a problem. I have a room in a house with the rest of my family. The router is a d-link and is downstairs at the bottom left corner of the house. My room is upstairs 10 feet high and im about 50-60 feet away from the router. My playstation 3 doesnt get a signal upstairs and i refuse to put it downstairs with that crummy tv from 1990. Does anyone know how to boost signal strength on a wireless router? or maybe suggest a router that can reach my room?

  1. The new Linksys N Router says it can cover an entire house.  It sells for $99

  2. I think there's an FCC power output limit, but I've heard manufacturers back off from that to play it safe.  There may be an internal adjustment, but you are on your own.

Your problem may be interference from neighboring wireless routers.  There are about 5 or 6 channels available for them, but the manufacturers all set them to one in the middle.  In Windows, go to "View Wireless Networks" to see if there are other routers out there.  Check your owners manual for your router and adjust to a different channel then the default.
