  1. ONLY goes to the body?

Drill him in the head with your best imitation of Tommy Hearn's big cross.

  2. stick him the jaw with an uppercup then u get ur body shots in

  3. Obviously if you can't slug with the guy then you'll have to try to do something else other than match power with him..........sounds like he's a hooker(someone who throws hooks.....not the worlds oldest profession)...........i only say that because usually when someone goes to the body alot they are not throwing straight shots to the gut.......they are coming in from the side when they are in close.    Sounds like you are fighting a lesser version of Miguel Cotto.........i'm sure this guy doesn't only go to the body.......that would be pretty strange........interesting, but strange.    I think that you are correct, that if you can use the jab than use it(no doubt about it)...........they say that the KO punch is the great equalizer but any big, knowledgable boxing fan knows that the jab is just as much an equalizer as the big punch.........but the jab takes mental toughness.........you have to stay disciplined and not get drawn into a battle with him if your jab is working......no matter how comfortable you feel.............obviously in sparring tell your partner to go to the body hard and if this guy does throw to the head what's his big punch??   Find out and move with the punch that way his power will be lessened..........

Oh yeah........the jab has gotta be a stiff jab or he'll probably walk right through it..........and use movement.............if he's a body guys then he'll follow you like a rat to cheese...........alot of people forget that even if they don't throw too many punches in a fight that someone who employs a pressure type strategy could wear down just trying to catch someone the whole fight.

Boxing is a smart man's game........get tape on this guy or scout him and be honest as to what your advantages over this guy are and what his weaknesses are...............then exploit them to the best of your abilities.   Good luck man.

If you can draw any comparisons to any fighters that you've seen then see who that boxer has had trouble with and see if you can employ the same strategy.

  4. kick him in the nuts!

  5. Keep circling and stick and move.

  6. Most weight on front foot. Lean forward, crouch forward covering your body with your top half, cover your chin with yuor shoudler, block with your elbows, move, and work your straights at a distance and rips up close. rips to the body, tight hooks to the head. If he hurts you too bad, clinch, push away almost straight away, and as soon as you throw him back slightly and are not being held onto or holding onto him, smash him with a right to the jaw.

  7. everybody above made some great points, esp the previous two chaps.  my 2 cents: double and triple up on your jab.  it's most effective to keep your opponent off his rhythm.  chances are, if he's a body puncher, he's timing you as to when he can come in, so keep alternating your rhythm - sometimes 2 sometimes 3, sometimes more.  mix up your combinations and use angles.  you'll need constant movement to keep him off his timing.  that should get you thru the early rounds.  chances are, if he is good at going to the body, he may not be so tough in the body himself so take full advantage of that.  he will probably catch up to you at some point so when he puts the pressure on, make sure you punctuate the close exchanges(get the last punch in).  always make him pay and try to catch him coming in.  take him off his game make him think and bully/manhandle him when you can - push him back, tie him up, smother him, and protect your ribs.  once you establish your jab, he'll be looking for it and timing it.  pull a page from ALI and use right hand leads here and there.  the more he's thinking about what you're gonna do next the less he can stick to his plan.  this works in your favor....good luck!

  8. while he is concentrating on your body work on your foot movement and work your jab to his face followed by a hard right cross. also go the body on him as well. great fighters become great because they know how to work the body. thin about it. the body is a hug target compared to the head and has lots more places where you can punch.

  9. if ur taller just jab him off if ur shorter and hes a slugger, clinch or tie him up and circle around him and since he goes to the body, use uppercuts and be physical with ur body and push him back and throw some shots to make him think twice before doing tht again

  10. By the sounds of it his a bit shorter.. probably a bit stronger through the body - a bit more solid, and a pressure-fighter. Footwork is your best friend. So jab and move, jab-cross and move, just be sure to keep moving so you cant be rushed. Dont go toe-to-toe.. thats playing into their hands, fighting their fight.. not what you want to do if your looking to win.

  11. Stick him with jabs and one-twos and move off to the side. If he manages to get inside, use your uppercut (if your stance is  orthodox, with your right; if you're southpaw, with your left) then follow it with a hook and a straight.
