I ran a mile straight today in 10 minutes.

not very fast, but it was straight without stopping.

then after that I couldn't run another straight mile, i had to walk .2 of mile. sometimes i can get by with walking .1 or .15 of a mile and then run again, but why cant i just run consistently without stopping?

id be able to run soo much farther in 40 minutes if i just didn't stop!

I know I have to bring my endurance up obviously..but how would I do that? i run 6 times a week for 3-4 miles currently.

im 17, 5'5'', and 125 pds.

thanks!

  1. Walking can be part of your training. Until your body is ready to keep going and going like the Energizer bunny, walking helps so you don't just stop. I don't run through red lights on the street.

For now keep to running a 2-3 miles every day easy jogging not raacing or running fast. In a couple weeks when the miles feel comfortable, you'll be ready to add a  long run once a week. Add one mile each week to that long run keeping your daily miles the same.

1stweek run 3 miles daily, Sat. run 4 miles

2nd week run 3 miles daily, Sat. run 5 miles

3rd week run 3 miles daily, Sat. run 6 miles

    etc. etc. etc.

Don't forget to stretche before and after your workouts.
